Alice (Carla Ribas) is a fortysomething manicurist trapped in a loveless marriage with a husband (Ze Carlos Machado) who has affairs with teenage girls rather than spend time with his wife. Alice also has trouble keeping her teenage boys in line: Lucas (Vinicius Zinn) is eager to become a fascist army lieutenant, while Edinho (Ricardo Vilaca) is obsessed with buying junk. Things get even more complicated when a romantic figure from Alice's past suddenly comes back into her life.
